Connecting your OFX Global Business Account to QuickBooks Online creates a direct bank feed, allowing your cash transactions — including deposits, payments, and card transactions — to sync automatically. This helps to keep your financial records accurate and up-to-date with minimal effort.

QuickBooks Online Bank Feed is available for customers in Australia (AU), United Kingdom (UK), Canada (CA), United States (US) and European Union (EU) only.

Prerequisites: Enable Multi-Currency in QuickBooks Online

For the OFX integration to function correctly, the Multi-Currency feature must be enabled in your QuickBooks Online account. This is because OFX Global Business Accounts operate with multiple currencies.

Steps to Enable Multi-Currency:

1. In QuickBooks Online, navigate to the Settings ⚙ icon and select Account and settings.

   

2. Under Advanced > Currency > Multicurrency: Select the Base Currency that you want (usually where the business is based) and turn on:

   

How to setup / Link your OFX account and the QuickBooks Online Bank Feed

OFX is a registered Financial Institution on the QuickBooks Online Banking platform and we have built a Direct Bank Feed meaning transactions will flow completely and reliably from OFX to QuickBooks Online.

Steps to link the OFX into QuickBooks Online

1. Sign into your QuickBooks Online Account.

2. Navigate to the Transaction > Bank transaction screen

3. Click on “Connect account” if this is your first bank account or “Link account” if you have linked an account previously

   

4. Search OFX in the search bar and click on the region your business belongs to:

   

5. Pick the relevant region:

   1. If you have signed up to OFX from any of the countries United States of America (US), Canada (CA) or the United Kingdom (UK) pick OFX (US, CA, UK excluding EU)

   2. If you have signed up to OFX from Australia (AU), pick OFX (Australia)

   3. If you have signed up to OFX from a country in the European Union pick OFX (European Union) 

6. Follow the authentication prompts to consent to QuickBooks Online accessing your OFX Data:
   

   

7. After authorizing your OFX accounts will need to be mapped the Chart of Account Bank Accounts in QuickBooks Online for the correct currency.

8. If you do not already have accounts for these currencies you can create them in the User Interface:

   1. Account Type (will be auto-selected): Cash at bank and in hand

   2. Detail Type (will be auto-selected): Cash on hand

   3. Name: Name the account as you wish recommend “OFX {{Currency CODE}}”

   4. Currency: Ensure to select the correct currency from the dropdown.

      

9. Then select the date range in which you wish to pull transactions from:

   1. Today

   2. This month

   3. This year

   4. Custom range

10. Click Connect

11. Accounts will now be created and linked in QuickBooks Online and transactions will sync from the period you selected.

12. Ongoing Transactions will sync on a Daily basis or when the user click’s “Update” in the Bank transactions screen.
